Ankena is set to build its 500th new jobs in 2017, according to a new report.
The news comes after it announced it had completed its first major project at the new fleet site at ankenys east-side farm.
“We’ve done an awesome job.
We’ve done a great job,” chief executive officer John Rennie said.”
It’s great for the community and it’s great to be part of the process.”
The company is the first Australian company to be awarded the federal government’s new $7.3 billion National Land Infrastructure Investment Grant (NLIIG).
“The grant provides funding to develop the region’s economic future and it also creates jobs for Australians who want to be there,” the federal Government said in a statement.
“The new infrastructure will be a catalyst for the regional economy and the jobs will grow here in Ankenys.”
“The regional economy has a long history of strong economic growth and job creation and we look forward to continuing this growth,” Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Simon Birmingham said.
A spokesperson for the Government said it was “pleased to see this latest project be approved”.
“We will be supporting Ankenies efforts to attract new businesses, create jobs and develop its infrastructure and that includes investment in the Alderney Peninsula, the city of Ankenes and its regional community,” they said.
