Tiny Greenhouse(s)

The day has been a beautiful one ~ crispy and cool ~ just like it should be this time of year. The tiny green house that was just recently set up is turning out to be perfect for starting seedlings. It is easy to circulate fresh air in it, it is easy to stretch the hose into it, and very easy to warm it. Well, I guess we cheated a little on the warming part…

To keep the newly planted lettuce seed warm we placed a small four-tiered greenhouse inside the larger greenhouse then placed the watered lettuce flats on the top two shelves. Next we attached a 125w brooder bulb pointing upward from the bottom to warm the flat soil. We zipped both greenhouses up tight and left them for the night. Even though the outside temperature this morning was barely 20°, the temp inside the smaller greenhouse was 65º+ … PERFECT …
